Welcome to the Terahertz Physics group!

Our work area lies at the intersection of condensed matter physics, optics and photonics, and laser physics. In our group we study functional materials using advanced methods of ultrafast and terahertz optics. We investigate the microscopic dynamics of electrons, lattice and spins on extreme fast time scales of femtoseconds to picoseconds (10-15 s – 10-12 s), and try to understand how these microscopic ultrafast processes define the macroscopic electrical, thermal and magnetic properties of materials. We also develop new research tools for our studies: we build new optical spectroscopy setups that permit experiments with extreme-high time resolution, and develop new methods to generate, detect and manipulate light.

If you are interested in doing your Bachelor, Master or PhD project with us, please consider taking the following courses. You can take them prior to, or already during your work in our group.

If you would like to join our team, of if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Prof. Dmitry Turchinovich or any other member of our group.
